The Collaborative Research in Action (CRiA) Youth Symposium is an in-person symposium this year. It is an open symposium for all K-12 students that want to present and connect with other youth around social justice.

Presenters focus on social justice in their own communities and the actions that they have planned and accomplished.

2024 CRiA
Youth Keynote

Carlos Madrid

A current 11th grader at University High School, Carlos is curating “Machismo: The Toxicity of Masculinity in Latino Households” an exhibition that dives deep into the roots of machismo culture and how it is deeply imbedded in Latino communities. His exhibition focuses on his first-hand experience as a queer Latino and how machismo has affected his view of himself and his ethnicity.

The exhibition’s aim is to educate as many families as possible, and share knowledge of a subject that is often ignored yet impactful to young people. Together we learn, educate, and grow. The exhibit runs from May 17th to 19th at UHS.
